Abstract

This is the first numerical study of two-dimensional quantum turbulence by the Gross-Pitaevskii equation. We start from a uniform state and obtain quasi-steady quantum turbulence. Then the energy spectrum of the incompressible kinetic energy shows an indication of inverse cascade which is a remarkable phenomenon of two-dimensional classical turbulence. It is possible to make experiments of two-dimensional quantum turbulence in the film of superfluid helium and atomic Bose-Einstein condensates.
