Abstract

Erosion due to particulate impingement is the key factor responsible for damage of industrial pipeline. A CFD-CFX based simulation study of particle-liquid erosion of pipe elbow that considers the solid-liquid, solid-solid and solid-wall interaction is presented in this work. The simulation work has been performed by using the combination of CFD code ANSYS CFX along standard k-є turbulent model. Erosion rates for particles of different diameters and concentration are investigated at different slurry velocity. The model presented can be employed in industrial flow applications for the forecast of erosion wear caused by solid-liquid slurry flow
