Abstract

Xu, G.; Tan, Q.; Wei, Y.; Zhu, X., and Cong, Y., 2020. Numerical analysis of LNG carrier in waves with forward speed. In: Yang, Y.; Mi, C.; Zhao, L., and Lam, S. (eds.), Global Topics and New Trends in Coastal Research: Port, Coastal and Ocean Engineering. Journal of Coastal Research, Special Issue No. 103, pp. 305–310. Coconut Creek (Florida), ISSN 0749-0208.Seakeeping is one of the most important research topics of the ship, which directly affects the sailing safety of ships in the sea. Insufficient safety will cause the ship to violently sway during wind and waves, affecting the normal operation of the ship and equipment on the ship, the strength of the hull, and the comfort of the crew, causing displacement and damaging the cargo, and even causing the ship to capsize in severe conditions. Based on the hydrodynamic software HydroSTAR of the Bureau Veritas, this paper calculates the seakeeping of a certain type of ship in a complex environment. In this work, the coupling effects of the sailing direction, wave incoming direction, and the height of the ship's center of gravity are studied, and the hydrodynamic calculation of the height of the center of gravity, the forward speed and wave direction are discussed in detail, so as to provide useful references for the design of the ship's seakeeping in coupled environment.
