Abstract

Height is a vital element in surveying and mapping applications. With the latest space technology, the height of the earth’s surface can easily be derived by adding the element of the geoid. Geoid can be derived geometrically and gravimetrically. Classically, gravimetric geoid derived based on a combination of gravity and digital elevation model data, meanwhile, the geometrical geoid is computed based on combination GNSS ellipsoidal height and local height system value. Both geoids produce different values of height. In this study, the numerical analysis is carried out to deeply investigate the discrepancy among the gravimetric and geometric geoid models. Gravimetric geoid based on MyGeoid, PMSGN2014, EGM2008, and XGM2019 is evaluated. The result is compared based on the four different types of geoid models. The analysis is turned out that PMSGM 2014 provides the most significant value in terms of RMS compared to other gravimetric geoid models.
