Abstract

The Bronx High School of Science started a course in numerical analysis in 1955. The first such course featured the programming of an IBM 650, a stored-program electronic computer with drum storage. For this purpose, the facilities of the Watson Laboratories were used with the kind permission of the IBM Corporation.
