Abstract

DRAG4D system is developed to simulate airflows around or through a car model whose style is defined on a styling CAD system, STYLO. DRAG4D system consists of a grid generation subsystem, a flow solver and a flow visualization subsystem. DRAG4D and STYLO have made it possible to improve the aerodynamic characteristics and reduce the design cycle of developing a new car. We found that DRAG4D is very effective and even cost-effective in spite of a long computation time.
