Abstract

Abstract A multi-rate sampling continuous-time formulation of the structured Model Predictive Control (MPC) is used for PVC production control in this work. Solution of the nonlinear optimization problem is based on a Successive Quadratic Programming (SQP) framework incorporating an Interior Point (IP) method instead of a Quadratic Programming (QP) code with Active Set Strategies (ASS). The number of iterations required to solve the QP by the IP algorithms is independent of the number of active constraints in the problem. Using IP method results in significant computational saving. Further reduction computation time can be achieved by limiting the number of IP iterations.
