Abstract

Abstract By analyzing the principle of pressure balance in the sealing area, a more stable and faster convergence fluid–solid coupling numerical algorithm is proposed. The overall flexibility matrix of fluid film and asperities is extracted from both fluid and contact mechanics analyses. Then, multiplying the flexibility matrix by the current unbalanced pressure yields the required film thickness correction. Through some example analysis, it can be found the present model can be set with a larger relaxation factor (0.1) or even do not need any relaxation, while conventional model usually need to sacrifice efficiency and choose a smaller relaxation factor (0.001) to achieve stable convergence, meaning that the stability of the present model can be ensured at a higher convergence rate.
