Abstract

Reverberation chamber (RC) is unique because it provides random directions for radiation of equipment under test (EUT) with a higher field strength compared to other measurement techniques, for the same input power. For electromagnetic compatibility measurements using RC there is no requirement for rotating an antenna. However, an appropriate orientation of transmit antenna affects to the performance of RC. This paper presents an evaluation of the number of independent samples for two different antenna orientations namely; orientation to the stirrer and orientation to the working volume. The evaluation was done inside a 2.50 m × 2.55 m × 4.00 m reverberation chamber and in the frequency range from 100 MHz to 1000 MHz. The number of independent samples obtained by simulations show that by assigning appropriate orientation of transmit antenna, the performance of reverberation chamber can be improved.
