Abstract

The rapid expansion of transcatheter cardiovascular procedures for a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, including structural cardiac diseases, has been paralleled by novel three-dimensional approaches to imaging. Computed tomography and three dimensional transoesophageal echocardiography have high spatial and temporal resolution, and they help guide interventional procedures, leading to safer procedures with higher technical success, reduced radiation exposure, and improved patient outcomes. In this review, we discuss the roles of computed tomography and three dimensional transoesophageal echocardiography in percutaneous procedures such as mitral balloon valvuloplasty, mitral valve repair with clips, aortic and pulmonary valve replacement, paravalvular leak occlusion, left atrial appendage occlusion, and atrial and ventricular septal defect closure.
