Abstract

Nucleation in binary solutions of cryogenic liquids has been investigated. Experiments have been made in range of nucleation rates from 104 to 108 m−3 s−1 at temperatures close to the critical line. The results of experiments are compared with the homogeneous nucleation theory, which takes into account the main factors limiting the nucleus growth. The effect of the curvature of the nucleus separating surface is allowed for in the nucleation work with the help of the Van-der-Waals-Cahn & Hilliard method. It is shown that the allowance for the curvature effect in the homogeneous nucleation theory improves its agreement with experiment.
