Abstract

Measurements of ortho- to para-formaldehyde conversion rate constants are described. They are based on the fact that a clean photolysis of one nuclear spin modification is possible in the natural mixture with the help of narrow band UV laser radiation. Rate constants are of the order of k 1 = 5 × 10 −3 s −1 under the experimental conditions used in our measurements.
