Abstract

The role of shadowed parton interactions in nuclear shadowing and antishadowing are studied. In view of the momentum balance of a quark-parton system, a quantitative description for nuclear antishadowing is established. Associated with the modification of shadowing and antishadowing, the constituent quark model predicts the distortion of the cross section ratio R μ ( x) in the nuclear medium within the range 0.001< x<0.85 and the A-dependence (4⩽ A⩽200) of six quantities characterized by the EMC effect, especially the A-dependence of the cross-over point x 1 of the ratio-line R( x) with the horizontal axis R μ =1. The predictions are in fair agreement with the existing data.
