Abstract

Nuclear radiation doses’ monitoring has been an important part of the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST’s) experiment. This paper is mainly on the monitoring of nuclear radiation doses [neutrons (n) and gamma rays (γ)] around the EAST’s hall. To fully monitor the radiation doses of neutrons (n) and gamma rays (γ), the layout of the monitoring detectors is carefully planned and designed. And based on the layout of detectors, hardware and software for the whole monitoring system are presented and introduced briefly. According to these detectors and the monitoring software, the real-time radiation doses are captured and displayed timely. The accumulated total radiation doses of EAST hall’s external environment based on the monitoring detectors are presented. Finally, a safe key conclusion is obtained that the accumulated total radiation doses of EAST hall’s external environment are far less than the annual dose limit (20 mSv) of a professional person during 1 year.
