Abstract
Abstract India and Pakistan have acquired nuclear weapon capabilities. This has exercised restraint on the policies of both sides and seems to have averted armed conflicts between them for fear of nuclear confrontation. These policies of restraint are likely to be continued by both countries and may well be reinforced if the international community succeed in reaching agreements on the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT), cut off of fissile material and ban on deployment, testing and production of ballistic missiles.
