Abstract

Nuclear medicine has greatly developed in the last 5 years and has been gaining a key role in diagnostic medical imaging because of the large spread and clinical applications of PET and PET-CT. For this reason, nuclear medicine cannot be considered anymore as just a helping hand in diagnostic imaging and may be placed on the same level as that of more famous and widespread radiological procedures. Indeed, with the adoption of hybrid methodologies of PET-CT and SPECT-CT, functional information from nuclear medicine constitutes a natural integration of anatomical radiological imaging.
