Abstract

We study isospin asymmetric nuclear matter and finite nuclei in a parity doublet model. One of the main goals of this study is to find a physical quantity that is sensitive to the chiral invariant nucleon mass to address the origin of nucleon mass in matter. We find, however, no such a physical quantity yet in asymmetric nuclear matter; for instance, the slope parameter L turns out to be independent of the chiral invariant nucleon mass. We also investigate Δ matter and observe that the partial restoration of chiral symmetry could be enhanced by the onset of Δ matter. We present a preliminary result from the study of finite nuclei in a parity doublet model.
