Abstract

Orientational order parameters for cholesteric liquid crystalline compounds—cholesteryl benzoate, methyl carbonate, ethyl carbonate, and laurate—have been estimated by studying the dipole–dipole splittings in the wide line NMR absorption spectra. The temperature dependences of the S factor agree closely with those of nematic liquid crystals.
