Abstract

/sup 1/H and /sup 13/C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometric techniques for the determination of a series of parameters which describe the average molecular structure of coal-derived liquids are presented. The methods are adaptations of established techniques for aromatic fractions of petroleum. Average molecular structure parameters for six coal-derived liquids are reported, and differences among the six samples are interpreted.
