Part XVII. Part XVI, J. Chem. Soc., in press. ‡ Attention is drawn to a paper by G. Fraenkel, Y. Asahi, M. J. Mitchell, and M. P. Cava, Tetrahedron, 20, 1179 (1964), published since this paper was written, in which an analysis is given for the NMR spectrum of biphenylene in deuterochloroform. The parameters agreed reasonably with those from our better-defined spectrum, but the general conclusions differ.
