Abstract

29Si, 23Na and 133Cs 7.05 T NMR studies of sodium-cesium mixed-alkali silicate glasses are reported. The fractional contribution to the spectral intensity of the various Q n units and the values of the chemical shift tensors for each of the 29Si sites are determined as a function of alkali composition. Transmission electron microscopy of lithium-potassium disilicate glasses reveals no correlation between alkali linewidths and phase separation.
