Abstract

The V 51 nuclear spin–lattice relaxation rate 1 / T 1 has been measured to clarify the spin dynamics in the quasi-one-dimensional conductor β - Na 0.33 V 2 O 5 . We observe the drastic changes in 1 / T 1 accompanied by the Na order–disorder and the metal–insulator transitions for the V2 and V3 sites. The 1 / T 1 results indicate that the Na ordering induces the change from a narrow local band to a wide band at the V2 site in the metallic phases.
