Abstract
Several nuclear mutations of yeast block the expression of specific mitochondrial genes post-transcriptionally. Analyses of mitochondrial mutations that suppress three of these nuclear mutations suggest that the nuclear gene products act on the 5′-untranslated leaders of specific mitochondrial mRNAs to promote their translation.
