Abstract

Forkhead box O3a (FOXO3a) is a transcriptional regulator characterized by a conserved “forkhead box” DNA-binding domain. It is thought to be a tumor suppressor, with oncogenic PI3K/AKT signaling suppressing FOXO3a activity through phosphorylation, nuclear exclusion and eventual proteasomal degradation.
