Abstract

The absolute ft values for the first-forbidden transitions of some transuranic odd-mass nuclei have been calculated. The results were obtained both in the Konopinski-Uhlenbeck approximation and by taking account of the nuclear finite size. It is found that in the case of the transitions 233 Pa( 3 2 −) → 233 U( 1 2 +), 235 Np( 5 2 +) → 235 U( 7 2 − and 237 U( 1 2 +) → 237 Np( 3 2 −) the nuclear finite size effects decrease significantly the difference between the theoretical and experimental values.
