Abstract

Under the sponsorship of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission's Division of Nuclear Education and Training, the Puerto Rico Nuclear Center has conducted a summer workshop in Nuclear Explosives Engineering. Participating were a group of faculty members from the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) at Mayaguez, staff members of the Puerto Rico Nuclear Center (PRNC), and the authors. While the PRNC conducts research programmes connected with Transisthmian Canal studies, it was felt that an examination of the current status of the technology was needed before providing a college level educational and training programme for Latin American engineers.
