Abstract

Of the 540 college students offered fellowships by the National Science Foundation (NSF) for graduate study in 1985–1986 in the natural and social sciences, mathematics, and engineering, 31 plan to pursue graduate studies in the earth, ocean, or space sciences. In addition, three of the 60 NSF Minority Graduate Fellowships awarded this year were offered to students who plan graduate studies in the earth, ocean, and space sciences.
