Abstract

The article is devoted to the revealing of the genre features of the novella-miniature in the works of the contemporary Belarusian writer Uladzimir Stepan (based on the texts of the cycle "Soldier's Button", collection "Waves", 2019). The general and distinctive features of the novella-miniature are revealed: cyclicality, unity by a common problem-the-matic field, brevity, minimalist volume, novelistic paradox, contrast, focus on a bright, unusual moment, dynamism and an unexpected turn of the storyline. The specificity of the novella-miniature of the cycle "Soldier's Button" by U. Stepan is the presence of existential motifs, symbolism, and attention to a detail.
