Abstract

In this paper, a novel method is proposed to design wideband bandpass filters with compact size. Combining half mode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW) and periodic dumbbell-shaped defected ground structure (DGS), two compact wideband bandpass filters with different HMSIW-microstrip transitions are fabricated and measured. The filters are found to possess wide passband bandwidth and compact size. Good agreement between the measured and simulated results demonstrates the validity of this technique.
