Abstract

A manufacturing process for synthetic magnetic trace particles has been successfully developed. The tracers produced in this technique are of a wide range of specific gravity based beneficiation processes. Statistical analyses have revealed that the synthetic magnetic tracers do behave similarly to coal particles in coal cleaning processes. It is established that these trace particles can be magnetically detected while passing through the input or output stream of coal in specific gravity based coal preparation operations.
