Abstract
A new trinuclear cadmium complex of the formula [Cd3L2(H2O)6]4H2O, were L is EDTA3-(HY3-) has been synthesized by a novel method. The structure of the complex was determined by single crystal XRD and further characterized by elemental analysis, IR-, Raman- and UV visible spectroscopic methods. The complex crystallized in a monoclinic form with P21/n space group. One Cd(II) is octahedrally coordinated and the remaining two cadmium ions are 7-coordinated.The presence of extensive H-bonding results in an interesting molecular assembly. Thermal stability and solid state photoluminescence property of the complex have also been studied.
