Abstract

Lead sulphide (PbS) nanorods were successfully prepared via elemental-direct-reaction method in the amide-based ternary eutectic melt (acetamide–urea–ammonium nitrate) at 60 °C for 12 h. The effect of reaction temperature on morphology of products has been investigated. The products were characterised by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy to derive crystallinity, size and morphology of the products. UV–vis and photoluminescence spectral analysis were carried out to determine the optical properties of the PbS materials.
