Abstract
A novel swine-origin influenza A (H1N1) virus (S-OIV) infection has nonspecific clinical presentations and imaging findings, usually displaying pulmonary involvement. We report a 37-year-old man with S-OIV pneumonia and unusual high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) findings. He passed away 7 days after hospitalization. The unusual HRCT findings showed a crazy-paving pattern of both lungs. We suggest the inclusion of S-OIV pneumonia in the differential diagnosis of patients with crazy-paving pattern on HRCT, and this imaging pattern may be an indication of severe illness status.
