Abstract

A compact dual mode substrate integrated waveguide band pass filter with good skirt selectivity and bandwidth is proposed in this paper. The position of the perturbation has an important role in deciding the pass band in a dual mode filter. The skirt selectivity of the filter was improved with a PEC covering for the perturbation on one side without altering the dual mode function. Two transmission zeros were present on either sides of pass band with rejection values of −25.309 dB and −29.71dB at 22.4GHz and 25.7 GHz respectively. Insertion loss in the pass band obtained was −1.5dB. Half power bandwidth of 2.121GHz was achieved for the proposed structure. The transfer characteristics of the proposed design satisfies the frequency range for K band and hence can be used for RADAR and Satellite communication applications.
