Abstract

Sialosphingolipids obtained from spermatozoa of the sea urchin, Anthocidaris crassispina gave nine spots by thin-layer chromatography. Two of them were isolated by silicic acid column chromatography. The predominant one was proposed to be - N-acetylneuraminyl(2 → 8) N-acetylneuraminyl(2 → 6)glucopyranosyi ceramide, and the second to be - N-acetylneuraminyl(2 → 6)glucopyranosyl ceramide.
