Abstract

A method for the detection of uridine by flow injection analysis (FIA) was developed using metal-chelating affinity matrix. The quantification of uridine was performed on the basis of selective interaction between this nucleoside and copper ions. Besides optimisation of working conditions, effect of interferences substances and application of the system to the molasses sample were also investigated. The sensor was found to be sensitive, inexpensive, rapid and can easily be operated. A linear relationship between sensor response and concentration of uridine was obtained in the range of 4–10 g/l. The relative standard deviation (R.S.D.) and standard error (S.E.) were found to be 5.82 and 1.3, respectively, for 20 analyses at the 6 g/l level.
