Abstract
Linear ubiquitination is an important post-translational modification regulating the activation of numerous proinflammatory signalling mediators. Deregulated linear ubiquitination has been implicated in the pathogenesis of several inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. In this issue, Miao etal. have identified a novel role for linear ubiquitination in the stabilisation of the NFAT1 transcription factor, leading to enhanced NFAT1-mediated gene expression, which might have functional implications in patients with Kawasaki disease.
