Abstract

Background: SEMS are used to palliate malignant dysphagia. A new removable stent has been introduced (ALIMAXX-EE, Alveolus, Inc, Charlotte, NC). To our knowledge, the feasibility, technique of stent removal and tissue reaction has not been reported in humans. Aims: 1) To report reason and success of SEMS removal in consecutive patient 2) To describe methods of esophageal stent retrieval 3) To describe degree of stent reaction induced by SEMS in humans. Methods: SEMS were placed under conscious sedation and as outpatient.
