Abstract

Aiming at the problem of high side-band spectrum for a general frequency-shift keying (FSK) radar signal, this study introduces a novel radar FSK signal based on continuous-phase frequency-shift keying (CPFSK) used in communication systems. Theoretical analysis, simulation and physical application results show that the CPFSK radar signal efficiently controls the spectral containment, whose roll-off performance of the CPFSK is ∼20 dB better than that of normal FSK; meanwhile, the modified signal possesses good ambiguity and pulse compression performances for radar application.
