Abstract

In this account, the preparation and application of a library of novel P-O-P ligands for asymmetric hydrogenation is described. Various phosphine-phosphinite and phosphine-phosphite ligands were easily prepared from enantiopure Sharpless epoxy ethers. While several provide moderate levels of enantioselectivity and/or reactivity, ligand 1 was found to be highly efficient for the hydrogenation of different alkenes.
