Abstract

A novel one-dimensional (1D) organic–inorganic hybrid oxalate-bridging Cu–Tb heterometallic phosphotungstate [Cu(en)2(H2O)][Cu(en)2][Tb(α-PW11O39)(H2O)2(ox)Cu(en)]·6H2O (1) with mixed organic ligands of ox and en (ox = oxalate, en = ethylenediamine) has been hydrothermally synthesized. Notably, it represents the first oxalate-bridging Ln–TM heterometallic hybrid built by oxalate-bridging terbium-substituted phosphotungstate {[Cu(en)2]2[(α-PW11O39)Tb(H2O)2]2(μ-ox)}6− dimeric units and dinuclear copper(II)–oxalate [Cu2(en)2(μ-ox)]2+ linkers. Magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate weak antiferromagnetic couplings within 1.
