Abstract

AbstractWe demonstrate a novel UV‐writing technique for fabricating long fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs). The use of electro‐optical phase modulators allows the creation of a continuously moving fringe pattern which can be synchronized with a moving fiber. It is shown that infinitely long FBGs may be fabricated using this technique. Preliminary results are presented. (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
