Abstract

Overall Abstract In this symposium, an overview on novel and complementory approaches to modeling and investigation of human diseases with neurodevelopmental origin are presented. Anna Gorelik will present insights from the role of the immune system in neuronal migration highlighting the roles of the complement system and Masp1/2 and pharmacological rescue. Mandy Johnstone will present experiments with transdifferentiated iPSC from patients with CNVs of NDE1, a key molecule in corticogenesis, including modeling as cerebral organoids. Carsten Korth will present how functional proteomics can complement genetics in candidate protein discovery, including modeling in a transgenic DISC1 rat that displays aberrant neurodevelopment. William Hennah will present results from a genetic investigation of the Northern Finnish cohort of the DISC1 network comprising DISC1, NDE1, NDEL1, PDE4B and PDE4D with a discovery linking NDE1-mediated regulation of hsa-mir-484 to medication success in patients.
