Abstract

A novel hybrid excited asymmetric-stator-pole doubly salient permanent magnet machine (HE-ASPDSPMM) is proposed in this paper. Firstly, it investigates the new topologies and operation principle based on simplified equivalent magnet circuit (EMC) model. Then, the harmonic components of air-gap flux density are analyzed in details based on analytic method. And then, the influence of key structure parameters of proposed machines on the flux regulation ability and torque is investigated. Finally, the full comparison on main electromagnetic performance indexes of the proposed 12/7 (stator/rotor pole) HE-ASPDSPMM with those of traditional 6/7 biased flux permanent magnet machine (BFPMM) with doubly salient structure and concentrated windings is presented. It indicates that the proposed machine enjoys the merits of strong flux regulation ability, lower cogging torque, higher torque density, lower torque ripple, etc.
