Abstract

In this letter, an enhanced asymmetrically clipped dc-biased optical orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (ADO-OFDM) scheme is proposed with asymmetrically clipped optical OFDM for the local network and dc-biased optical OFDM for the global network to avoid co-channel interference. Based on that, a novel visible light communication attocell adopting heterogeneous networks with optical access point using two light-emitting diode sources with different transmitter semiangles can be adopted. The signal-to-noise ratio and the average capacity are then investigated and formulated. Simulation results show that the average achievable capacity region of the enhanced ADO-OFDM can be greatly increased compared with that of the conventional ADO-OFDM.
