Abstract

This paper examines novel computer filing systems which have particular application to the information storage and retrieval requirements of an office of the future. A variety of filing systems are reviewed, ranging from network-based file servers, to digital image storage and retrieval systems. The major characteristics of each system reviewed is presented in tabular form for ease of comprehension. The paper concludes with a discussion on the desirable characteristics of a modern electronic office filing system.
