Abstract

In this study, novel Fe-Ce-O mixed metal oxides were prepared by hydrothermal method. The Fe(0.3)-Ce-O catalyst showed excellent Hg0 oxidation performance in the presence of NH3, with high N2 selectivity (90% at 300°C) for NH3 oxidation. NH3-TPD indicated that a large concentration of acid sites appeared after CeO2 modification by Fe. The large surface area and Oα/(Oα+Oβ) ratio and the good Hg0 adsorption capacity were beneficial for Hg0 oxidation over the Fe(0.3)-Ce-O catalyst in the presence of NH3. Moreover, it was proposed that Hg0 was adsorbed in preference to NH3 on weak acid sites. Thus, the weak acid sites were crucial in Hg0 oxidation in the presence of NH3.
