Abstract
Inefficient clinical workflows can have downstream effects of increased costs, poor resource utilization, and worse patient outcomes. The surgical consultation process can be complex with unclear communication, potentially delaying care for patients requiring time-sensitive intervention in an acute setting. A novel electronic health records (EHR)-based workflow was implemented to improve the consultation process. Post-implementation, we assessed the impact of this initiative in patients requiring vascular surgery consultation.
