Abstract

This paper makes use of two novel determinantal equations, each involving the coordinates of the point of incidence as well as those of a pair of points lying respectively on the incident ray and reflected (refracted) ray for the establishment of the theoretical proofs of the generalized vectorial laws of reflection and refraction discovered by the author in 2005. The treatment of derivation offered is novel and useful from the view point of academic interest. The present work will enhance the theoretical foundation of the generalized vectorial laws of reflection and refraction, there by enriching the traditional optical physics literature as well.
