Abstract

We propose a simple demultiplexer for dense wavelength-division-multiplexed (DWDM) milllimeter-wave-band radio-over-fiber (RoF) systems that uses an optical-frequency-interleaving technique, which consists of only a 2 x N arrayed waveguide grating with an optical coupler. In the proposed demultiplexer, a suppression ratio of more than 25 dB against adjacent channels is experimentally obtained. The transmission performance of 12-channel DWDM 60-GHz-band RoF signals with 25-GHz channel spacing over 25-and 2-km standard single-mode fibers via the proposed demultiplexer achieves a bit-error rate of less than 10 -9 .
